Dr Surekha Tayade (Vice Chair)


Dr. Surekha Tayade, MBBS, MD, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MNAMS, FICOG, ACME, FAIMER Fellow did her graduation and post-graduation from Government Medical College, Nagpur. She joined the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sewagram, India in 2002, is a full Professor since 2011 and presently heads an independent unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, DMIMS, DU, Wardha.

She is also Master Trainer, Emergency Obstetrics Care (EmOC) project of Bill Melinda Gates foundation, Skilled Birth Attendant trainer, Basic EmOC trainer, Member of core committee of the National and State Quality Assurance Cell, EmOC, part of curriculum building team for EmOC /Life Saving Anaesthetic Skills training. She was Co Leader for Maternal Death Audit and Maternal Near Miss Review Project of GOI and was part of the expert committee of GOI for developing guidelines to establish Obstetric HDUs /ICUs throughout Medical schools in India. She also serves on the National Mentoring Group of National Quality of Care Network for LaQshya Initiative of GOI.

Dr- Surekha Tayade joined Women's Health Task Force in 2013 and is the founder member of Women's Health Together for Future. She is presently the Vice Chair of Women and Together for the Future and Chair of Women's Health Task Force, Towards Unity for Health, USA.  She has received the GHETS mini grant twice to pursue a program to reduce gender based and sexual violence in rural Indian villages and has been awarded the prestigious Savitribai  Phule Achievement Award 2018 for community service
